Well, in my more than 30 years of practice as an integrative health care practitioner and caring for tens or thousands of clients with a wide variety of health conditions I have witnessed firsthand the effects of personal lifestyle choices such as the foods you eat to create health or dis-ease.

Through the years I have researched various diets to find out what worked best for me, my loved ones and my clients.

Though generalizations can be drawn for what food choices are best for an individual I discovered that each individual has their own dynamic constitution which has subtle changes daily. Certainly more marked changes occur as we age.

However, with dietary and lifestyle choices your biological clock can be regulated and the effects of aging slowed or even reversed in some cases.

Your intuition is your best guide for your food choices. However, you must train your intuition, so you listen to your body’s signals for what it wants to eat.

Often you may give in to food cravings that may actually be foods you are allergic to and that’s why you crave them. Of course these cravings are usually for processed or junk foods, not whole, natural foods which is an easy tip off for you to know the difference.

Your best food choices are whole, natural foods prepared simply and with minimal cooking.

In future blogs I will share natural foods recipes and juicing recommendations for health and longevity.

With Jupiter’s station in Cancer until next June now is the perfect time to focus on how you nourish your self and others. During this time you are supported to make healthful changes in your lifestyle.

Cancer is the Mother of the zodiac signs. Its capacity for mothering and nurturing are well known and appreciated by many of us lucky enough to have a Cancer friend or loved one. Food, of course, is at the top of the list for how Cancer’s love to nurture themselves and others.

In this article I just wanted to begin to broach the topic of eating for health.

One of the most empowering health mastery goals you can have is to take charge of what you eat and to make a commitment to eat for health.

Though I do want to emphasize that it is absolutely essential to enjoy your food and eat for the pleasure and enjoyment of eating.

Once you can focus on eating only natural, whole foods and eliminating excessive seasonings your ability to taste your food will soar.

Your sense of textures and flavors will be greatly enhanced. Your appetite will stabilize and be more easily satisfied. In most cases your hormones will become naturally balanced.

Your mood will improve and be consistent. Anxiety, if it is an issue, will be a thing of the past. You won’t have food cravings or be a binge eater anymore if that is something that has challenged you in the past.

You will lose any excess weight naturally and your weight will normalize.

The following “diet” books are the ones I usually recommend to my clients to help them find out what foods will be most healthful and right for them.

I’ve used each of these books to fine tune my own diet. I discovered, as I’m sure you will, that there are overlaps between each book. This helps to confirm what foods are best for you.

Interestingly most of the foods recommended for my type whether from the metabolic, blood or geno type books I had already intuited as right for me. So the books were a validation and confirmation for me.

The books also helped me to know which foods to consider eliminating to see what effect they were having on me.

Generally with elimination of a food to discover its effect you simply eliminate the food for 3-6 weeks then one day eat a lot of that one food to see how it affects you.

You’ll easily notice if you feel achy, congested, anxious, etc. after eating the food. Then you’ll know it’s best to eliminate it from your diet.

After a period 6 months to a year you can try ingesting the food again to see what affect it has on you.

I’ve given a brief synopsis of each book for you with a link to Amazon.com where you can learn more and purchase.

Change Your Genetic Detiny Genotype Diet book coverChange Your Genetic Destiny

The Change Your Genetic Destiny book expands on the concept of the Blood Type Diet book created by naturopathic physician Dr. Peter D’Adamo.

In this book six genetic body types are shown each with its own characteristic gene and physical expression.

Customizing your diet and lifestyle choices according to your genotype helps you achieve optimal health and normalize your weight.

Each genotype is the key to achieving weight loss and optimal health.

By influencing environmental aspects of your genes such as your exercise and nutrition and how you respond to stress you can affect the way your genes are expressed; either supporting health and longevity or encouraging dis-ease.
