Today in the USA we celebrate the 4th of July as Independence Day. Today commemorates that historic event when the USA’s fore fathers, at great risk to their our own lives, signed the Declaration of Independence.

I invite you to take this day as an opportunity to celebrate your gift of inner independence. You are born with this gift of inner independence. It is your Divine inheritance and it can never be taken from you. It can be relinquished by you, but never taken from you.

In his master piece, “Man’s Search for Meaning,” Viktor E. Frankl recounts his personal experience as an inmate at an Auschwitz concentration camp.

Frankl chose to strengthen his inner independence and took responsibility for being creatively free even while being imprisoned in the direst of circumstances.

You have this creative power to rise above your circumstances available within you!

Like a muscle your inner independence and creative power need to be used and strengthened by your choices.

Life is your greatest teacher and the challenges you choose to face and rise above serve to strengthen and prepare you for the next stage of your life journey.

Three truths you must come to know in order to experience lasting inner happiness.

  1. Life happens for you!
  2. Life wants you to be strong.
  3. Life wants you to maintain your inner independence and access to your creative power at all times.

Your inner independence is the basis for your success in life.

Whether the success you desire is financial, health, relationships, career or any other area of your life in which you desire to experience success.

Renewal of your inner freedom is being activated during this historic time period.

Astrologically the ongoing square between Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries symbolize collective breakthrough to inner freedom for both the individual and society at large.

Pluto and Uranus are symbolic of your breaking through old beliefs and habit patterns that hold you bound to the past status quo structures that previously served you and society, but now inhibit you from accessing your inner freedom and expressing your creative power to know and act on what is right for you.

This square between Pluto and Uranus also helps you to become aware of your priorities in life and what you value most. It also activates your desire to correct any blocks to re-establishing your own creative power to guide and protect you.

As you re-establish your inner independence and express your creative power you naturally begin to align and dance with natural forces to co-create the life you were born to live.

Life is your greatest teacher.

Focus and pay close attention to your life experience and see what life principles it is teaching you to value.

You have access to knowing these eternal life principles to guide your life.

Your journey to learning these guiding life principles is fraught with many challenges that help you to grow in your awareness and become reliant on the power of your own inner truth and wisdom.

Your spiritual journey is facing human dilemmas. Your spiritual journey is the hero’s journey to come to know, forgive and integrate your own inner weaknesses of character, your shadow.

Spiritually speaking you are having this human experience as a way to learn self mastery.

Having spiritual practices such as meditation, as well as other means of self help can all be useful on your journey of self discovery and mastery of your life circumstances.

One of the self help tools I discovered more than 40 years ago that has consistently helped me to deepen my spiritual connection to my own higher power and accessing inner truth has been The I Ching, or, Book of Changes (Bollingen Series XIX)

The I Ching, Book of Changes dates back to 2800 – 2700 BCE. It is a text for understanding human character and behavior. It teaches you how to relate with others in a positive and harmonious way that results in favorable outcomes for all concerned.

The ‘others’ referred to in the I Ching often relates to your own inner character traits that may be undermining you, as well as your relations with others in your outer world. Others in your outer world is often seen as mirroring the internal state of your inner relationship with your higher power.

As the The I Ching, or, Book of Changes (Bollingen Series XIX) its message can feel challenging to access, so you may wish to consider reading Carol Anthony’s ” A Guide to the I Ching” as a companion for deciphering the I Ching’s meaning

“Used by its readers as an oracle, this book, based on the terminology used in the classic Wilhelm/Baynes translation, puts the I Ching into modern language.” -Carol Anthony, author

An invaluable aid to anyone who is on an inner journey of the heart and soul I discovered this little treasure in the late 1980’s and have frequently relied upon it for clarity and insight. A Guide to the I Ching is especially helpful when going through a Dark Night of the Soul or at a Major Crossroads in your life.

There are many other divination tools for accessing your inner wisdom that I’ll review in future blogs.
